Returning to Lancaster County in 2010 with a culinary resume that included 13 years as a chef at the White House, John Moeller began a catering company, published a book and taught cooking classes.
And while Moeller said he thought owning a restaurant was likely in his future, the opportunities and the timing just never seemed right.
That is, until now.
The Lancaster Township location of Mick’s All-American Pub will become the new home of Meals on Wheels of Lancaster.
As LNP previously reported, Mick’s will move to a new building in Willow Valley Crossroads at some unspecified time later this year.
Kevin Ressler, executive director of Meals on Wheels, said it has purchased the restaurant at 1411 Columbia Ave. for $550,000 and will lease it back to Mick’s for a few months. The property is just west of Jackson Drive, near Stone Mill Plaza

Waters Retail Group, a Southeast Pennsylvania development, management, leasing, and brokerage firm, has signed leases with Ross Dress for Less (22,000 s/f), Fine Wine & Good Spirits “Premium Collection” store (12,000 s/f), Ulta Beauty (10,333 s/f), and Carter’s/OshKosh B’gosh (5,000 s/f). Construction will begin this Spring with the new stores opening in Spring and Fall, 2019. Kevin Lahn of Waters Retail Group represented the landlord in these transactions.

Arts and crafts retailer Michaels opened its new store this week in the Shoppes at Belmont, after moving from the nearby Lancaster Shopping Center.
The new store at 1583 Fruitville Pike takes a 21,000-square-foot space next to Nordstrom Rack. The Michaels in the Shoppes at Belmont is slightly larger than the one the arts and crafts retailer formerly had in the nearby Lancaster Shopping Center.
CoreLife Eatery, a healthy-eating restaurant that will feature hearty soups and salads, will open Thursday in the Shoppes at Belmont.
CoreLife Eatery is taking a 2,800-square-foot space at 1581 Fruitville Pike, in the building behind Chick-fil-A. It will have around 50 employees.
The menu features customizable bowls of food built on a base of greens or grains, topped with vegetables or proteins, and mixed with broth. There are also a variety of signature bowls.
