Ulta Beauty, Rack Room Shoes and Starbucks all opened recently in the Shoppes at Belmont.
— Ulta Beauty takes a 10,500-square-foot spot near P.F. Chang’s at the end of a line of stores, next to Rack Room Shoes.
The location at 1575 Fruitville Pike has some 20,000 beauty products across 500 brands plus a full-service salon. It will operate with 28 employees.
Ulta Beauty, the largest beauty retailer in the U.S., was founded in 1990. Today it has more than 1,050 stores. Based in Bolingbrook, Illinois, its product lines consist of makeup, skin, hair and nail care items, professional hair tools and fragrances.
— Rack Room Shoes is a family footwear retailer that sells brand name and private label shoes for men, women and children. The 5,500-square-foot store next to Ulta Beauty carries a wide range of brand name athletic shoes, with one side of the store designated for that purpose. It operates with 12 employees.
Rack Room Shoes has its roots in North Carolina, where a Lerner Shoes store opened in 1920. In 1984, what was then a 22-store chain was bought by the Deichmann Group of Germany, which renamed it Rack Room Shoes.
The name refers to a method of displaying complete pairs of shoes in the boxes, which makes sales clerks unnecessary.
Today there are more than 450 Rack Room Shoes stores in the United States, including Lancaster County stores in Rockvale Outlets and Tanger Outlets.
— Starbucks has opened next to Jersey Mike’s Subs in the building behind Chick-fil-A. The 2,000-square-foot coffee shop features a drive-thru.
For Starbucks, the coffee shop at Belmont is its eighth stand-alone location in Lancaster County. It also operates six locations inside other stores, including one in the new Target in the Shoppes at Belmont.
