Eastern Palace, which features Burmese and Thai dishes as well as sushi, has opened on Columbia Avenue, just west of Millersville Road.
The new, 72-seat restaurant at 2206 Columbia Ave. takes a spot that is the former home of a Wendy’s restaurant.
The menu at Eastern Palace includes Burmese chicken curry and beef curry as well as Mont Hin Gar, a Burmese fish noodle soup. Thai dishes include fried rice and rice noodle dishes as well as other stir fry dishes.
The BYOB restaurant, which operates with seven employees, also has egg rolls, fish cakes, salads, desserts and bubble tea.
Eastern Palace is owned by Thet Thet Mon, whose husband Win Thaung is an owner of Pho Pasteur 3, a Vietnamese restaurant that opened next door in October.
Before opening, the former Wendy’s restaurant was completely renovated, with new kitchen equipment installed. Around $150,000 was spent on the interior work.
