With an expected opening in mid-January, Chick-fil-A will be the first tenant in the Shoppes at Belmont, the shopping center under construction at Route 30 and Fruitville Pike.
When it opens, the Chick-fil-A at 1579 Fruitville Pike will have indoor seating for 130 and feature a drive-thru with two lanes for ordering. There also will be a two-story children’s play area.
The new Lancaster restaurant will have a “heritage restaurant interior design” that will include a large gathering table made from reclaimed wood, subway tiles and a light fixture made from recycled Coca-Cola bottles, a spokeswoman said.
The franchisee for Chick-fil-A is Judy Shaffer, who will be hiring up to 120 people to staff the restaurant.
Shaffer is also the franchisee for the Chick-fil-A along Lincoln Highway East near Rockvale Outlets that opened in December 2011.
Chick-fil-A opened its first restaurant in 1986 in Atlanta and now has more than 2,100 U.S. restaurants. Its menu features a variety of chicken sandwiches as well as wraps, salads and breakfast items.
Belmont is a $105 million mixed-use project of stores, restaurants, townhouses and single-family homes.
The Shoppes at Belmont will have more than 20 tenants, including Target, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Whole Foods and Nordstrom Rack.
Most other store and restaurant openings are expected during the spring and summer.
